Race to 121
Section titled “Race to 121”
Cribbage is a race. First to 121 points wins.

Score while pegging, then score both hands and the crib.
Make the crib
Section titled “Make the crib”
Each player gives two cards to the dealer's crib.

The crib is counted by the dealer after the hands.
Peg to fifteen
Section titled “Peg to fifteen”
Play without taking the running total over 31.

Hitting exactly 15 scores two pegging points.
Pairs and runs
Section titled “Pairs and runs”
A matching rank beside the last card scores two.

The last cards can form a run in any order: 3, 5, 4 scores three.
Go and 31
Section titled “Go and 31”
If you cannot play without passing 31, say go.

Exactly 31 scores two, not an extra last-card point. Then reset the count.
Count a hand
Section titled “Count a hand”
In the show, every group adding to 15 scores two.

Then count pairs, runs, and the starter with the four-card hand.
Count the crib
Section titled “Count the crib”
The crib is a separate five-card hand for the dealer.

Pegging, hand counting, and crib counting all move the same race peg.
Finish the count
Section titled “Finish the count”
When neither can fit a card below 31, the last player scores one. Reset and continue.

If the turned-up starter is a jack, the dealer immediately scores two.
Small bonus points
Section titled “Small bonus points”
A jack matching the starter's suit scores one point.

A hand flush scores 4, or 5 with the starter. A crib flush needs all five matching suits.
Rules in more detail
Section titled “Rules in more detail”Hand, crib and pegging details
Section titled “Hand, crib and pegging details”Every combination totalling fifteen scores two, and every pair scores two. Runs count their length and can multiply with duplicate ranks. A four-card flush scores four in a normal hand, plus one for a matching starter; the crib requires all five to match. A jack matching the starter’s suit scores one for nobs. In pegging, fifteen and thirty-one score two; a trailing run can count even when its ranks were played out of order. Count the non-dealer’s hand before the dealer’s hand and crib. Reaching one hundred and twenty-one ends the match immediately.
Keep playing
Section titled “Keep playing”Use Rematch after the result to play again. To pause an unfinished match, the table owner can remove and keep its board.
